poems of dreams and things

Here’s something that was emailed to my mom today:

yesterday is but a dream, and tomorrow is only a vision, but today well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope

Here’s what I wrote yesterday:

dreams come from the heart

but dreams are of yesterday

reality faces us today

but cam be dreamed through

visions are in tomorrow

but they can become today

or a dream yesterday

Memories

I try to remember…

remember something

some sweet memory

maybe it’s important

maybe it’s not

I think I might remember

remember that sweet memory

my memory…

I danced under the stars

the twinkleling, shining stars

a moon too

 a big, glowing moon

I forgot my cares and worries

worries can wait… dancing is better

I dances in the grass

the soft, sweet dewy grass

I twireled

The singing trees twirled with me

the trees sang me music

 sweet music

music only I could hear

and understand

they told me they’re deepest secrets too…

I danced fast then   slow    so  slow

I layed down in the grass

the sweet smelling grass

and I opened my eyes

a bird was chirping outside my window

waaaa-keee waaaa-keee waaaa-keee…

sweet grass

Morning Muffins

This morning I’m making muffins

muffins with blueberrys and cinnamon

as they bake

their scent drifts around

in the air

mmmmmm

My stomache growls

the timer goes off

eeeeeeeeeeeep eeeeeeeeeeeeep

I turn it off

open the door

two more minutes

I set the timer again and wait

eeeeeeeeeep eeeeeeeeeep

I quickly turn it off

They’re done

The scent curls up my nose

mmmmmmmm              PTL

No Rose

No rose is without thorns

they come together

the beauty with the prick

red blooming blossoms

angery stabbing thorns

you take one

you take the other as well

No life is without difficulties

they come together

the beauty with the prick

colorful creative love

desperate hopeless holes

they both come

both in their own way

Traveling along a white picket fence

Traveling along a white picket fence

it seems as if it goes on and on and on

the other side of the fence is green growing grass

miles upon miles of it

it swishes and sways

down on the ground I’m walking on is dirt

brown beautiful dirt

as I walk along it rises in clouds

I can see for miles on this long dusty path

I hear the wind whisper its secrets to me

as it blows along next to me like an old friend

the grass waves gently to me

as I walk along this white picket fence I see life

more life than you could imagine              PTL

Spring

Today I sat on our porch swing and read a book

I stopped and looked up as I often do

And watched a squirrel run across the yard

I looked around for memories to keep my mind afresh

I saw green grass, blooming flowers

I saw spring and a fresh season

A season to grow

To grow physically, mentally, spriritually

A season to let the heart

Sing, shout, praise

Two days ago

It was bitter and cold

cloudy, stormy, rainy

I watched and yearned for that beautiful spring

The spring which has shown himself only in glimpses

Glimpses I loved

It was if spring was teasing me

saying I’m here

then leaving again

leaving the cold wind to whistle around me instead

As I listened to the birds voices carrying across the lawn

I hoped spring was here to stay

I looked down at my book and thanked the Lord

Thanked him for His amazing artwork

Soccer Lap

When I arrive at soccer practice Friday

I stretch with my team mates

then coach has us run a lap

and dribble the ball the whole way

when I run with the ball I can feel my heart beating

my feet soon fall into step with my heart

ku-thump ku-thump ku-thump

I run, run, run

ku-thump ku-thump ku-thump

my beat changing

I go a bit faster

I’ve made the lap

 coach says another

I start off again with my heart

I run run run

ku-thump ku-thump ku-thump

half-way through

ku-thump ku-thump ku-thump

my heart is racing

I can hear my breath

as it goes in, out, in, out

I’m about there

my feet are slowing down

in, ku-thump, out, ku-thump, in, ku-thump

I’ve made it

I wait for the rest of the team

the last come in

we start practice

How I Fly

My brother told me how he flies

He jumps off the porch on a rope

As high as he can go

He told me that was as high as he could fly

I told him I could fly higher

I didn’t tell him how

This is how

I fly when I worship

Above the earth and sky

I fly when I sing praises

But where do I fly

I  fly to the heavens with my Lord

My soul is lifted up higher than anyone can go

High higher highest of heights I fly

Hallelujah to my Lord
