Joy!

My mom got me started on the Salt Challenges. This challenge was on joy.

I did this on a piece of scrap wood I got in the basement. Those black marks on the hymnal page are nails. (Don’t worry, they’re nailed in all the way.) The picture is of my grandpa and great aunt. They are a bit older now. I used an ink pad to dye the wood that way. And I used oil pastels for the writing. Oh, I also used the ink pad on the background picture.

I love the way the girl is struggling to play that enormous guitar, just because she want to make a joyful noise. It reminds me of my daughter when she was little.

Fandabbydozie! (that is a British word for wonderful!) I just love everything about this – the use of found objects, the wonderful photograph – the neat writing – the nails – the thought and care that has gone into it. What a great offering to the Lord!

  12. How fab!!! what a memorable piece, thank you for taking part!

Love it – and I particularly like that you used a family picture (as opposed to something you just found online). Great idea to incorporate the music, too.
